What’s special about Madras
Chennai is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the world. It grew out of the sliver of land on which Fort St. George came up. The initial growth of the city was tied to its harbour and it was a trading centre. Over the years, war, strife, diseases, plague, genocide and natural calamities have struck the city. But, it struggled on, growing in size and strength.
