March 20 is World Sparrow Day. It is a day to raise awareness about me, the house sparrow, and the threats to our populations.
Calling me simply a sparrow, may not be particularly helpful because there are around 140 different species of sparrows! Close to home, my cousin, the House Sparrow, is one of the many species found in India, besides the Eurasian tree sparrow, Russet sparrow, and the Sindh sparrow, among others.
