Let’s look at some wonderful artists from the past, as well as recent times, over this series. Painting used to be one of the main visual art forms, but has been overtaken by photography, video, and performance of late. But there is nothing quite like the experience of squeezing a tube of paint or applying a thick coat of paint from the paintbrush on to a canvas!

The ‘Old Masters’ were European artists working around or before 1800 AD. Their work was characterised by extreme technical skill, a distinctive style and sometimes mystic beauty which has kept the artwork popular through the ages. Some of these artists include Leonardo Da Vinci, Rembrandt and Goya – take a look at some of their works…
