The 'Snickometer' is a tool used to identify whether a ball has hit the bat or any other object. The sound is captured using an on-field mic and the sound is converted to a wave-form that can be seen visually.

Depending on the size and height of the spikes in the wave, it is decided whether it was produced by a hard/crisp object or a softer one. The absence of sound would imply the ball missed the bat completely! Take a look at the video to understand it better.

That's how science & technology is being used in the field of sports, but also, as a young audience, we get to understand the concept that sound is actually a wave and can be represented visually!
