While watching movies, have you ever wondered where the scenes have actually been filmed? In many cases, movies are shot in sets that are constructed in film studios. Sometimes, they are filmed in real-life locations.

Unravel the following images of places from around the world that were actually used as locations for well known films! Can you recognise any of them?

1. The lobby of the Grand Budapest Hotel – The Grand Budapest Hotel

‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ was considered one of the best films of 2014, receiving many awards. The lobby of the hotel in this film was actually the Görlitz Department Store in Germany.

2. The X-Mansion – X-Men

Have you seen this mansion anywhere? This is the Hatley Castle in Canada. It is more commonly known as the home of the X-Men mutants in Marvel’s famous X-Men films. It has also featured in many TV shows such as Smallville and Arrow.

3. Khao Phing Kan, Thailand – James Bond: The Man with the Golden Gun

Out of all the locations in which James Bond films have been shot, this is one of the most iconic. It is so famous that the island, called Khao Phing Kan, is also referred to as ‘James Bond Island’, even by the locals. That’s how much influence the movie had after its release in 1974!

4. The Gazebo – The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music is an iconic movie. The song Sixteen Going On Seventeen in the film featured a gazebo (a small building, especially in a garden). This structure once stood in the grounds of Leopoldskron in Austria, but constant trespassing resulted in it being moved and reconstructed in the gardens of the Hellburn Palace in Salzburg, Austria. Many fans of the film still visit the gazebo!
