The Commonwealth Games (CWG) took place recently in Gold Coast, a city in Australia. Similar to the Olympics, the CWG is a sporting event in which athletes compete in many sports. Only countries and territories that have been a part of the British Empire can participate in this event. Thousands of athletes from 71 nations and territories, including India, Australia, Canada, England, Scotland, and New Zealand, participated in the grand spectacle.

The Indian team put on a spectacular show. The total tally of 66 medals (26 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze) is the third highest for India in the history of the CWG.

Here are some athletes who made the country proud. Can you unravel their images?

Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu: The duo played against each other in the finals of the women’s singles in badminton. Saina bagged the gold medal while Sindhu settled for silver.

Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian javelin thrower to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Manika Batra won the gold in women’s singles in table tennis, becoming the first Indian woman to do so.

Wrestler Sushil Kumar, who has already won two Olympic medals, secured the gold in the men’s freestyle 74kg wrestling event.
