Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat. Thirty-five years later, on October 2, 1904, Lal Bahadur Shastri was born in Mughalsarai, a small railway town seven miles from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Both these men were born to lead the country.
