Have you ever wondered why some animal characters in your favourite book or film are able to talk like humans? Well, this is called anthropomorphism. Anthropomorphism is when animals or non-human characters are given human characteristics – the animal or object behaves as if it is human. For example, Lumiere from the film Beauty and the Beast is anthropomorphic, because he is a candlestick that can talk, walk and have emotions like humans do. Another example is Mickey Mouse.
