A movable bridge is one that has mobile parts that change the form of the bridge, usually to allow a passage for boats. Movable bridges differ in the way they change their form. The most popular types are drawbridges, but retractable bridges, swing bridges, tilt bridges, vertical-lift bridges, and a few other types are also favoured.
