The cells are created using ‘water-gel’ based artificial leaves that combine plant chlorophyll with carbon materials. This makes for a more flexible and cost-effective solar cell.

There’s another research involving lotus leaves as they repel water and self-clean when it rains. The advantage of this unique hydrophobic nature of the lotus leaf is that water literally slides off the surface, taking the dirt and dust with it. Quite interesting, isn’t it?
