In September, 19-year-old Canadian Bianca Andreescu defeated American Serena Williams 6-3, 7-5 in the final to win the US Open.

In the process, she not only became the first Canadian player to win a Grand Slam singles championship, but also became the first player ever to win the US Open on her main-draw debut.
