First off First Aid

Vinay and Anita were playing cricket when Vinay tripped and fell. Not only was he shocked but he was in pain. He looked at his knee and saw he was bleeding. Tears welled up in his eyes but he bit his lips trying to prevent himself from crying.

Their neighbour Asha was watching. They never asked her to join them in their games because she was bossy and controlling. She walked over to Vinay and examined his wound.

“Is it hurting?” she asked.

Vinay nodded dumbly. She noticed the unshed tears in his eyes and said, “It is okay to cry. Hmmm…there are tiny stones and dirt in your wound. It has to be cleaned. Anita go to your house and get your first aid kit,” she commanded.

“First aid kit?” asked Anita. “We don’t have one.”

“Don’t have one?!” exclaimed Asha. “What about you Vinay?”

Vinay shook his head.

“Unbelievable!” she muttered. “I’ll get mine.”

Vinay and Anita watched with interest when she opened her First-Aid kit. In no time she cleaned the wound and dressed it. “Now do you see the importance of having a first aid box at home?” she asked. Anita and Vinay nodded.

“What do you keep in a first aid kit Asha?” asked Anita.

Asha explained.
