For two days in November this year, 577 cricketers went under the hammer at the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 10 teams who will play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 had the opportunity to bid for players who will make up their core squad for the next three seasons.
Rishabh Pant was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping ₹27 crore, making him the most expensive player not only in this edition of the IPL, but in the entire tournament’s history so far. Second in line was Shreyas Iyer, who was purchased by the Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore. Third on the list was Venkatesh Iyer, who went to the Kolkata Knight Riders; the winning bid was ₹23.75 crore. Number 4 and 5 were Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal who were both secured by the Punjab Kings for ₹18 crore.
