Taking care of your eyes is among the important items in self-care. Eating a balanced diet full of fresh fruits and vegetables and developing an active lifestyle have been shown to reduce the risk of developing a number of eye diseases. Never look directly at the sun, tell a parent or teacher if your eyes hurt or if your vision is blurry. If you feel something in your eye, don’t rub it as it could make it worse or scratch your eyeball. Give your eyes a break when watching TV, or gazing into a mobile or computer screen for a long time. Follow the 20-20-20 rule; take a break every 20 minutes, for 20 seconds, by looking at something 20 feet away. Always wash your hands before you touch your eyes.
