Nature is constantly in danger, due to the acts of man and otherwise. Species around the world are dying out every year. This means that they become extinct and completely disappear from the Earth.

How do we identify which species are at risk and which are not? Most species are given a ‘conservation status’, which is an indicator of how likely they are to remain alive at present or in the near future.

The IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) is a global organisation that works in the field of conservation of nature and sustainable use of natural resources.
