Jim Corbett a British hunter, tracker, naturalist, and author, had a long-standing love affair with nature and wildlife, especially the tigers. He turned from one who hunted a number of man-eating tigers and leopards in India – about 19 and 14 respectively – to a man credited with establishing India’s first national park.

Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India and was established in 1936 to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. It was formerly known as Hailey National Park and later renamed in 1957 in Corbett’s honour.

To say ‘Thank you’ to someone, place the tip of your first three fingers on your chin and then move it towards the person. Remember a smile is always a huge help. This can also be done with one hand.

When you agree with someone or have to say ‘yes’, make a fist and move it front and back, just like you nod your head.

No

In order to say ‘no’, bring your index and middle fingers together and touch their tip with the tip of your thumb. To say ‘no, thank you’, you can combine the signs of ‘no’ and ‘thank you’.

Sorry

To apologise, touch your knuckles to your chest and make a circle, or move the hand up and down.

See you later

Time to say goodbye, until next time? Make a ‘V’ or a peace sign with your index and middle fingers, and then touch it to your cheek and then move in the opposite direction. This means ‘see you’. Then make an ‘L’ with your index finger and thumb, and move it downward to say ‘later’. Combine these two to say ‘see you later’.

For example, if you look at J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, a lion is used as the mascot for the house of Gryffindor whereas a snake is used for Slytherin, have you ever considered why? Well, one of the characteristics of a person from Gryffindor is said to be brave and the representations of a lion means ‘bravery’, hence why the lion is its symbol. Can you guess why a snake is used for Slytherin, or how about the badger for Hufflepuff or raven for Ravenclaw?

In fact, many stories use an animal to represent a certain characteristic, however it doesn’t mean that is always true either, sometimes a lion in a story might not be brave.
