The right angles

Triangles are simple, yet strong shapes, and there are six different types of them! Can you identify each of them in this memory game?

Triangles are polygons with the least possible number of sides – three. The three internal angles of a triangle always add to 180 degrees. In fact, it is one of the first shapes we learn to draw.

Fun fact: This simple three-sided polygon is considered to be the strongest shape because when force is applied to it, it is spread evenly through all three sides. Which is why trusses (beams made up of triangles) are used in the construction of bridges.

Did you know that there are six types of triangles? Here they are:

Equilateral triangle: Has three sides of equal length and three equal angles.

Isosceles triangle: Has two sides of equal length and two equal angles.

Scalene triangle: Has no sides of equal length and no equal angles.

Right-angle triangle: Has one angle that is 90 degrees.

Obtuse-angle triangle: Has one angle larger than 90 degrees.

Acute-angle triangle: All three angles are less than 90 degrees.

Now, take a break and play this memory game: match the triangles to their type.
