They work to understand the diverse and fascinating world of snakes, lizards, turtles, crocodiles, frogs, and salamanders. They research and study the biology, behaviour, ecology, and conservation of these cold-blooded creatures. Their work helps to unravel the mysteries surrounding these ancient and often misunderstood animals. In addition to research, herpetologists also engage in public outreach and education to raise awareness about the importance of reptiles and amphibians.

The Tour de France is an annual multiple-stage bicycle race primarily held in France. It is made up of 21 stages over 23 days. It is the oldest of the three Grand Tours (the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a España being the other two) and is generally considered the most prestigious. The coveted yellow jersey is traditionally worn by the leader of the race.

The 2023 edition started off in Bilbao, Spain, on July 1 and will conclude at the Champs-Élysées, Paris, on July 23.

The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world. It is regarded as the most prestigious and has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877.

Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments; the others being the Australian Open, the French Open and the U.S. Open. The tournament takes place over two weeks in late June and early July.

India made its maiden appearance at the 29th edition of The Championships, when B. Nehru, of Indian origin but representing Great Britain, played. He received a bye in the first round and a walk over to compatriot, Robert Hough in the second for unknown reasons.

India’s journey at Wimbledon began when Sirdar Nihal Singh became the first Indian man to play at Wimbledon in 1908. He lost a close first-round contest 11-9, 6-2, 6-4 to local player Herbert Wilson Fox.

Leander Paes holds the record for playing the most main draw matches (138) across men’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles for India at Wimbledon.

In 2015, Sania Mirza, became the first Indian woman to win a Wimbledon title in the Open era when she lifted the women’s doubles title along with Switzerland’s Martina Hingis.
