Have you watched the movie Moana? The characters in the movie are Polynesians. Polynesia is a subregion of Oceania, made up of over 1,000 islands scattered over the central and southern Pacific Ocean such as Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand and even Hawaii! Even though they live in different nations, Polynesians share many similar traits including language, culture, and beliefs.

According to some Polynesian beliefs, Tiki is the first man created by the gods. Tiki masks are hand-carved wooden masks that were used to stand in for gods to protect their users from evil spirits. Today, many people in the western world use them as decorative pieces in their homes or in themed parties.

Try out this memory game to see how quickly you can match the different Tikis. Keep an eye on the details!
