One of the most popular theorems in math is the Pythagoras theorem. It is named after Greek Mathematician Pythagoras.

There is a mention of this theorem in some of the most ancient mathematical texts from Babylon and Egypt, dating from over a thousand years earlier. One mention in an ancient Chinese text dates from well before Pythagoras' birth.

Then, why is Pythagoras given all the credit? Because he is the one who gave the theorem its definitive form.
