Writing a poem is about getting your feelings down on paper. You write poetry from the heart. But you can also write poems at any time because poetry can be about anything.

When you go on a trip, you notice a bird in flight, while your cousin is reading a message on his cell phone and your sister is trying to make sure she doesn’t fall off the branch.

You attend a birthday party and you remember the size and colour of the balloons, your friend remembers the decoration on the cake and the music, a third person remembers the warmth and friendship shared by all those in attendance.

It’s about the many things that are happening around you. Your perspective of it all and how you view these events.

So, if each of you writes a poem about that outing or that birthday party, the poems will be different.
